Apoorva graduated from NIFT in 2019, having already assisted at Abhishek Sharma Studio while studying, and spent time at Shivan & Narresh after. She started Poditu the same year in Westernwear, several years that taught her cut and construction properly. But her hands kept going somewhere else: to surface development, to embellishment, to what happens when a fabric is worked slowly and by hand. In 2024 she turned the label towards Indianwear.

What she wanted to make was specific. Occasionwear a woman is both complimented and comfortable in, the kind she can wear for eight hours without once adjusting it, and still be the most fabulous woman in the room.

She moved to Dubai in 2026, but every piece is still designed there and made by hand in the Delhi workshop she built. Nothing is cut for a mannequin. Clothes are designed around a woman’s changing body—elasticated pants, gently A-line kurtas, expandable sari petticoats and blouses that accommodate natural shifts in the bust. A few kilos either way, and the piece remains yours.

That ease is the foundation. Then comes colour and hand-worked embroidery—zardozi, pearls, crystals and stitchwork built over hours, sometimes weeks. Each motif is deliberate, allowing light to move across the surface in a way only handwork can. And nothing is made until it is ordered. Each piece is crafted to a woman’s measurements, made for her to wear, rewear and eventually pass into her own trousseau.
